The centerpiece of my work and portfolio is landscape photography. It is how I got started. When I began photographing England I was moved by the lush, soft landscape of the countryside, and the wilder, rugged terrain of the highlands and islands of Scotland.
My relationship with the camera and landscape photography primarily revolves around two ideas — the lure of the place itself, and the magnificent light pouring onto the landscape.
It is not interesting to me to merely travel someplace and take pictures. I need to be drawn to the land or sea and moved to capture the moment. Only then does “landscape photography” reflect feelings, and transcend the “snapshot.”
