I first became enamored with architectural photography when the Walt Disney Concert Hall was built in my home city of Los Angeles. Frank Gehry’s masterpiece holds much more to me than just an amazing work of architecture. I am a musician and my husband is in the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Walt Disney Concert Hall is his other home. Much of our life is spent in this living sculpture. I am forever fascinated by the movement of its exterior.
I continued pursuing architectural photography when I visited the newly opened Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, in Berlin. Again, here is a living outdoor sculpture with undercurrents of despondency and memory. As in my other works, there needs to be, in photographing architecture, something that pulls me emotionally to the subject.
